
Gyalwa karmapa is the first consciously reincarnated Lama of Tibet. Ever since the twelfth century Karmapas are the spiritual head of the karma Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.
His Holliness the 16th Karmapa, Ringjung Rigpe Dorje(1924-1981) left Tibet during the Chinese invasion in 1959 and made India his home. Known as “the king of Tibetan Yogis” taught many people and assisted by his disciples he introduced the Buddhist knowledge of mind’s nature to the modern world.
Karmapas personify the activity of all Buddhas and they were prophesied by Buddha Sakyamuni and Guru Rinpche. Today he is in his seventeenth reincarnation, as karmapa Taye Dorje.
